Privacy — No. 06 Zero telemetry On-device

Your Mac, your business.

In one sentence: SkoonMac runs entirely on your Mac, collects nothing about how you use it, and never phones home. The little we hold about you exists only because you bought the app or asked us for help.

Our philosophy — absolute zero-telemetry

SkoonMac is built so that there is almost nothing to write a privacy policy about. The app runs one hundred percent locally on your Mac. There are no analytics SDKs, no telemetry daemons, no crash-reporting servers, and no phone-home for licence validation — your licence key verifies entirely offline. We never collect or transmit the contents of your files or folders, what you scan, what you clean, or how you use the app. A person running a network monitor such as Little Snitch alongside SkoonMac will see nothing unexpected leave the machine.

What we hold, and why

The only personal information that exists outside your Mac is what's needed to sell you the software and to help you when you ask. The sections below describe each case in full.

When you buy SkoonMac

Payments are handled by PayPal, our third-party payment processor. To process the transaction, issue your licence key, and meet tax obligations, PayPal collects your email address, billing details, and IP address. PayPal handles all card data — we never see your card number. You can read how PayPal treats your information in their privacy policy.

The seller and merchant is The Cutting Edge Group CC. From the sale, we (the seller) receive only your email address, your country (for tax purposes), and your licence tier. We use these to verify your licence when you contact support and to send you critical software updates. We do not use these purchase details for advertising, and we never sell or share them.

When you contact support

If you email us or use the support form, we receive the details you send — your email address and your message. We keep them solely to help you with your request and to improve the app. We hold correspondence only as long as it remains useful for support.

Feedback and reviews

If you submit feedback or a review through the website, we store your name, email address, star rating, and message. Feedback stays unpublished until we have reviewed it. When a review is published, it shows only an anonymised name (for example, "First L."), the rating, and the text. Your email address is never published.

Cookies and this website

First, the important distinction: the SkoonMac app is and remains zero-telemetry — nothing here changes that, and the app sends Google nothing. This section is about the marketing website (skoonmac.app) only.

The website uses the essential cookies needed to complete checkout, and — so we can measure which advertising actually helps people discover SkoonMac — Google Ads conversion tracking (Google's gtag.js). When you visit, Google's tag may set cookies and send Google your IP address and basic page events (such as which pages you viewed and whether you bought). We use this only in the aggregate, to judge whether our ads are working; we do not upload your name to it. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can limit ad cookies through your browser settings or via Google's Ads Settings. Aside from Google Ads, PayPal's checkout, and Google Fonts (typography), no other third-party scripts are embedded.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us about the information we hold. We honour the rights granted under South Africa's POPIA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California's CCPA/CPRA, including:

  • Access. Ask us what we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Deletion. Ask us to erase your records. Please note that if we delete your purchase record, we can no longer verify your licence or reissue a lost key.
  • Opt-out. Unsubscribe from our (minimal) software-update email at any time using the link in any message, or by writing to us.

Retention and security

We keep purchase records for as long as needed to support your licence and to meet our tax and accounting obligations, and we keep support correspondence only while it is useful. Access to this information is limited and protected, and we never sell it or share it for advertising.
